The Papillion Recreational Soccer Program is built to provide every child with a safe, supportive, and development-focused soccer experience. Our focus is on fun, learning, community, and age-appropriate development.
Papillion Soccer Club is committed to providing a recreational program that continues to evolve and improve. By working together—players, families, and coaches—we can deliver a soccer experience that is fun, safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate. If you ever have questions, ideas, or concerns, we welcome the conversation. Together, we build something better for our kids.
PLAYER EXPERIENCE & WHAT FAMILIES RECEIVE
Every player in the Papillion Recreational Soccer Program receives:
- A complete 10-week season, including weekly games.
- Two training opportunities each week.
- Age-appropriate, evidence-based coaching designed to support long-term player development
- Trained and SafeSport-certified volunteer coaches who follow SafeSport, concussion, and background-check requirements
- A guaranteed commitment to equal playing time for all players—a core principle of recreational soccer
- A development-focused environment where fun, learning, and effort matter more than results
Equal playing time is mandatory and central to our program’s mission and values.
CURRICULUM & TRAINING STRUCTURE
To support consistency and development across the program, coaches receive:
- A full 10-week curriculum, including two age-appropriate, evidence-based session plans per week
- Access to coaching staff during a club-wide weekly training night, where directors assist in real time
- Guidance for planning their second weekly training session, which coaches schedule at available parks or open spaces (first-come, first-served; the club does not control these fields. These are City/public green space.)
Coaches who complete the season and return equipment receive a full refund of their child’s registration fee.
COACHING SUPPORT & EDUCATION
We are committed to helping every coach—new or experienced—feel confident and supported.
Our coaching support system includes:
- Grassroots Training through U.S. Soccer
- In-house coaching education sessions each season
- Individual and team-specific coaching support upon request
- Opportunities to complete coursework up to the U.S. Soccer National D License
(Special restrictions and eligibility requirements apply.)
Coaches are the lifeblood of our organization, and with that role comes key expectations. All volunteer coaches are required to:
- Attend in-house coaching education sessions
- Implement the provided session plans into their weekly trainings
- Attend all scheduled games and training sessions
- Communicate clearly and promptly with players and families regarding:
- Practice times and locations
- Game schedules
- Weather updates or changes
- Any other program-related activities
TRAINING SPACE
Teams receive:
- One club-designated training night each week, allowing directors to assist coaches directly.
- One flexible training day/location, chosen by the coach.
Public spaces—including Papio Bay and other parks—are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and the club does not control these fields.
LEAGUE STRUCTURE, SCHEDULING & FLEXIBILITY
Our recreational teams play in an external league that has full control over:
- Game schedule creation
- Game field assignments
- Referee assignments
Coaches may submit blackout dates prior to schedule creation, and the league will take these into consideration. Once schedules are released:
- Coaches may request a change if a conflict arises.
The league will review the request, but no change is guaranteed due to field, referee, and opponent constraints.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS & COMPLIANCE
Player safety is our highest priority. As required by Nebraska State Soccer and Federal guidelines, all coaches must complete the following before receiving their roster:
- SafeSport Training – mandatory federal abuse-prevention education.
- Background Check – required for all volunteers working with youth athletes.
- Concussion Training – state-mandated training to help coaches identify and appropriately respond to head injuries.
“No coach will be assigned a roster until all requirements are completed.”
